Southern Introduction
The Southern Business Unit relocated to Caterham, Surrey in November 2003 from Hartfield, East Sussex. Although in a very picturesque setting, the old office had become too small for the growing team that are responsible for driving business in the South of England. The new open-plan offices are very modern and have been fully equipped with the latest in Information Communications Technology.
The Southern Business Unit has been formed through experience, understanding and a desire to do what is right for the client. The structure is deliberately simple, but very effective and flexible in creating a professional construction process for each individual project.
The single most important factor of this structure is that right from pre-qualification stage the proposed Site Team takes ownership of the project, carrying responsibility to tender and through the complete construction phase itself. This immediately establishes a consistency in approach, a reliable communication network for all concerned and a deliberate consideration of all project needs.
Our philosophy is based upon “exceeding customer expectations” through continuous improvement in the quality of the service that we provide. Our Business Goals for the region include: -
• Becoming the first choice contractor for customers in the Southern region
• Achieving a sustainable, profitable and robust business
• Train, develop and maintain professional and proud people
• A supply chain and workforce who are the envy of the competition
• Make good practices habit forming – eliminate bad ones
• To create a culture of continuous improvement and enjoyment
To maintain a high standard of service we spend time and resource developing our site operatives through utilising our own highly skilled, highly trained, professional managers who themselves have undergone a structured and focused project management training programme. This approach is reflected in the standard management systems that can be applied equally to the full range of projects undertaken by the Southern Team.
At the earliest opportunity managers are encouraged to develop their trade and management skills. The basic principles of management and self-management are set in place using our Keyturn Management Training Programme. This is successful both as a team building exercise and in developing key management skills, which are consistent with the Company’s Core Values and methods of working.
